Occupational Therapist

Ms. Lize-Mari Kersop, B. OT (SA Reg.), HPC reg.

Lize-Mari is originally from the West Coast District of South Africa and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Stellenbosch. Since then, she has gained experience in various clinical settings, including public healthcare facilities and the pediatric private sector. Before joining Cayman Theraplay, Lize-Mari worked in a private practice specializing in sensory integration. This role allowed her to build strong therapeutic relationships with the children and families she supported, something she values deeply. Her experience has equipped her with the skills to work with children facing a range of diagnoses, including sensory integration difficulties, developmental delays, neurodevelopmental conditions, Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning difficulties, visual perceptual problems, and functional challenges such as activities of daily living and handwriting.

Her passion for understanding children more deeply led her to pursue advanced training in Ayres Sensory Integration, enhancing her ability to work with individuals experiencing sensory processing and integration challenges. Lize-Mari brings a wealth of experience in delivering individual, group, and class-based interventions. She has successfully implemented programs such as the Zones of Regulation, Alert Program, and The Happy Handwriter, integrating strategies that support children at both school and home. In addition to her work, she has provided training for teachers, parents, and caregivers, focusing on occupational therapy techniques and sensory processing challenges.

She is particularly passionate about working with toddlers, and her primary goal is to ensure that each child experiences success and enjoyment. Lize-Mari is dedicated to going above and beyond, always prioritizing the well-being of her clients within the team’s collaborative approach.
