Ms. Mignon Erasmus, B. Sc., (SA Reg.), HPC reg.
Mignon is a passionate speech-language therapist who was born and raised in South Africa. She obtained her Bachelors in Communication Pathology (Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) Honors degree at the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2016.
Mignon’s particular area of expertise, passion and interest lies in working with the pediatric population. She therefore went to work in the private sector and also travelled to schools where she worked with children with a variety of speech, language, social and auditory perceptual difficulties. Her experience includes working closely with teachers and parents to provide optimal treatment. In 2019 Mignon started working full-time at a school with neurodiverse children where she worked closely in a multi-disciplinary team in order to support academic development. In this setting she was exposed to a variety of needs but not limited to ADHD, Autism, global developmental delays, and genetic conditions. She gained extensive knowledge in the fields of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Childhood Apraxia of Speech and Developmental Language Delays.
Mignon enjoys providing early communication intervention and supporting early literacy development. She has experience in implementing high and low tech AAC and has presented group sessions to facilitate expansion of communication skills. Mignon’s special interests include early communication, language, articulation, social development, and auditory perceptual skills.
